The Cattle (Domesticated Animals)
Makki Sura
- Mid to late Makkah period. 165 Ayaat
- Umar رضي الله عنه remarked this Surah is one of the glories of Quran.
- Goals of Surah in three pillars
- Tauheed. Allah is our Rab
- Risala. Prophet ﷺ is messenger
- Akhira. Resurrection and day of judgement.
- Abdul hadi recitation.
Tauheed – Signs around You
- Aya 1 starts with Tauheed. How creation around you should point to creator.
- Aya 6 look at history of those before
- Aya 13 to Allāh belongs everything. Aya 18 He is the supreme over entire nation
- Aya 59 how perfect is the knowledge of Allah. He has keys to the unseen. Not a leaf falls except that he knows. Not a grain in the universe or anything wet or dry except that Allāh knows it.
- Aya 60 he is the one who causes sleep and takes the soul and knows what you do during day. Aya 95 Allāh is the one who splits open the seed to being a plant out. Aya 96 miracles of creation. Harmony of night and day. Aya 97 how stars are there.
- Aya 102 this is Allāh know him by things by around you
People Remember Allāh in Distress
- Aya 43 47 63. Who else you call in distress
- Aya 64 Allah responds to you. Allah answers even the disbeliever if called sincerity. He does not criticise calling him in distress, the criticism is on the fact that after distress is gone people start being unthankful and do Shirq.
Risala – Messengers and Message (Quran)
- Aya 91 Allāh links risala with tauheed. They did not value Allāh when they said Allāh did not send any human being with books. One can not deny prophets and their message.
- How can Allah exist but not send a message or messenger. Denying prophet is denying Allāh why would he create and not give guidance.
- Aya 19 Allāh is the one who sent this Quran
- Aya 114 Allāh has revealed the book
- Aya 38 Quran has everything. We have not left anything.
- Aya 50 Prophet ﷺ told to tell Mushriqeen I am just a human. I am a Warner and giver of glad tidings
Consoling Prophet ﷺ Rejection by People
- The Prophet ﷺ himself troubled at being rejected and this was consoled by Allah.
- Aya 33 we know what they say hurts you, it is not you they reject but Allahs revelation
- Aya 34 you are not the first prophet previous were also rejected.
- Don’t you know the stories of the previous prophets.
- Whoever walks in the footsteps of the prophets will also be mocked or rejected by others.
Miracles and Quran
- Why Allah does not send more miracles. Aya 35 eagerness of Prophet ﷺ to get a miracle.
- Aya 37 quraish asked for signs. Allah can send a sign. When sign comes people either believe or are destroyed.
- Aya 7 had we send down a book on paper from heaven they would have still said this is magic.
- Aya 8 if we had sent an angel the matter would be settled. Either believe or be destroyed like she camel on nation of Saleh. Aya 9 even if an angel was sent. He would have looked like you and caused confusion.
- Aya 111 Even if has sent angels and resurrected dead from graves and gathered together all animals and shouted to believe in Allah. They would have still not believed.
Day of Judgement
- Aya 12 we shall gather you on day of judgement. Aya 31 those who deny they have lost everything.
- Aya 94 You are going to come to us one-on-one how you were created alone. You will leave everything behind you. Every bond will be severed. Hadith says we stand Naked barefoot and uncircumcised infront of Allah.
- Aya 130 o assemblies of Jinn and Humans did I not send you Messengers. They will testify against themselves life of this world seduced them.
Story of Ibrahim Finding Creator – Argue with People
- Aya 74-78 Ibrahim عليه السلام finding creator
- Aya 79 Ibrahim worshipping the creator not creation. He already believed in Allah.
- Aya 80-83 Ibrahim عليه السلام arguing with his people
Prophets Mentioned (18)
- Aya 81 onwards long list of 18 prophets mentioned by name. One Prophet only with name twice but no other details. Their progeny are also prophets
Asbab-al-Nuzul – Story of Equality
- Aya 52 great example of Asbab-al-Nuzul why was an Aya revealed.
- A group of seniors in Quraish they approached abu Talib and were willing to accept Islam but cannot accept the concept of equality. They did not want to associate with low class and non Arabs and African slaves. They wanted their vip. Idea was brought and discussed by Prophet ﷺ and Companions.
- We don’t care about quantity but quality. We want those who are righteous and not those who are arrogant.
Beauty and Power of Worshipping Allah
- Aya 14 Should I take other than Allāh a protector while he created everything and feeds us but is not fed.
- Aya 71 should I invoke something that cannot benefit me. Should we walk away after guidance. The only guidance is the guidance of Allah.
- Aya 73 Allāh is the one who has created heavens and earth in truth and he just said Be and it happens. His saying is the truth. To him belongs dominion when trumpet is blown.
Laws on Purity of Food
- Laws on eating pure food. Wealth halal and animals slaughtered properly.
- Aya 141 Allāh commands to give Zakah from Harvest. Wealth is purified
- Aya 143-145 list of animals allowed or prohibited. Superstitious practices are being refuted.
- Aya 118-121 We should eat only pure animals and over which Allahs name is mentioned during slaughtering. Do not meat over which Allahs name has not been mentioned. Method of slaughter also has to be halal. The God of Abaraham must be mentioned for Christian or Jewish.
Bans Evil Practice – Killing Own Children
- Aya 140 Lost are those who killed own children without knowledge. Especially female infanticide.
- Also Aya 151.
Do not Insult their false Gods
- Aya 108 Do not curse the Gods they worship and in return they will do same. You can argue but academically and with good manner.
Majority will lead Astray
- Aya 116 If you were to follow majority of people on earth they would lead you astray from Allāh.
Ten Commandments Islam
- Aya 151 – 153
- No shirq,
- honor parents,
- not kill children,
- away from immoralities,
- kill without cause
- Not approach property of orphan
- Give full measure. Be honest
- Be fair when you speak/testify
- Fulfill your covenants with Allāh.
- This is my straight path follow it and do not follow other paths.
No Sects & Compensation on Resurrection
- Aya 159 do not make sects in Islam
- Aya 160 Good deeds rewarded 10 times and sins only once recompensed.
- Aya 162 My prayers my sacrifice, my life and death everything is for Allāh.
- Aya 164 No soul will bear burden of another.
- Aya 165 Everyone is tested in different ways and given different ranks in the world.
