Here you will find a summary of the quran divided into 30 parts (or 30 Juz as it is called in arabic). These are my notes based on video lectures offered by Shiekh Dr. Yasir Qadhi in Ramadan 2020

Suras 19. Maryam, 20. Ta-Ha

Part 15

19 Maryam

Early Makki – 89 Ayaat

  1. Tauheed & Akhira – Main theme negate Allāh having partners or children.
  2. Stories used to explain. Story of Zakaria, Maryam, Isa, Ibrahim 
  3. End with day of Judgement

Special place in Seera – Najashi

  1. Muslims Hijra to Abyssinia to settle in land of Najashi. 
  2. It was a chritistian king called As’Huma(Najashi). 
  3. Najashi asked Muslims about Isa. They recited Surah Maryam. When he heard this he started crying and accepted Islam seriously. Ja’far (brother of Ali) was the Sahabi who recited. 
  4. When he died Jibraeel informed Prophet ﷺ and he prayed his janaza him silence. 
  5. Allah called Ar Rahman often in this Sura mentioned rahma around 22 times. 
  6. Ibn Taymiyya: This is the Surah that tells us the Rahma of Allah and who gets it. 

Zakaria Dua 

  1. Beautiful lessons from Dua of Zakaria
    1. He called out to Allāh in a humbled and hushed tone secretly. Be private in Dua.
    2. He told his situation (complaint to Allāh)
    3. He used the term Rabb often in his Dua
    4. He praised Allah repeatedly. 
    5. He was optimistic. Prophet ﷺ make dua while you feel certain. 
    6. Allāh give me a child and make it one you are pleased with. In every Dua for worldly things ask that they become a source for Allahs pleasure and make it beneficial for me.
  2. He was blessed with Yahya عليه السلام. Yahya was given wisdom in youth. 
  3. Yahya was given affection Aya 13 Yahya was a gentle innocent pure soul and he was righteous. 

Maryam And Isa Story

  1. Aya 16-38. She became and frightened when she saw Jibraeel as a man. She warned him to fear Allah. She was given good news. She withdrew away from the temple all alone. She gave birth alone. 
  2. She sought refuge under the shade of tree and she wished she had died before this. We cannot imagine the pain she had from child birth and from the people she has to face to have a child without a father. 
  3. Allah sent an Angel to comfort her. There was a river next to her. Allah said shake the tree and fruit will fall. 
  4. Whoever puts his trust in Allāh, Allāh will find a way out for him. Ultimate help comes from Allāh. Ask Him in anxiety or depression. 
  5. Isa عليه السلام spoke from the cradle “I am the slave of Allah, He has commanded me to pray and give charity as long as I live”. 
  6. Reality that this is the true story of Isa. They are arguing and Allah tells the real story. Their groups differed among themselves regarding the truth about Isa. See Aya 34. 

Ibrahim عليه السلام and His Father

  1. Aya 41-50. Ibrahim keeps gentle words and obedience to his father. Even when asked to get out. Ibrahim عليه السلام said peace upon you and compassion. 
  2. Allah granted him righteous children and grand children. Aya 49. 
  3. Other prophet stories are explained and all of them would prostate when they hear the name of Allah. 
  4. Warning: Aya 59 After them generations came they delayed in their prayers and they followed their desires. These people will suffer their consequences. 
  5. How regular you are in your prayers shows how much your heart is attached to Allāh. 

Janah Beautiful Descriptions 

  1. Aya 60-64 Beautiful Ayaat about Janah. 
  2. Jibraeel informs he would only come when Allāh commands it. Prophet ﷺ was eager to meet him more often. 

Day of Judgement – Sirat Bridge 

  1. Aya 71 “there is none among you except you must pass over it. This is an unavoidable decree from Allāh.” Bridge Sirat on day of Judgement. 

Negation of Allāh having a Son

  1. Aya 88 and they say Ar Rahman has taken a sin
  2. Aya 89 you have brought forth a monstrosity 
  3. Aya 90 the heavens almost rupture and earth splits open and mountains collapse in devastation
  4. Aya 91 that they attribute to Ar Rahman a son 
  5. Aya 92 and it is not appropriate for Ar Rahman that he should take a son 

Love for Righteous – Past Generations Silent

  1. Aya 96 indeed those who have believed and done righteous deeds – Ar Rahman would write for them Love.
  2. If you want love from Allāh, the Angels and creation—>believe in Allah and do righteous deeds. 
  3. Aya 98 “And How many have we destroyed before them of generations. Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a whisper.”

20 Ta-Ha 

Early Makki – 135 Ayaat – conversions 

  1. Enumerate the blessings of Allah to his prophets and their followers
  2. Story of Musa عليه السلام 
  3. Umar رضي الله عنه accepted islam after listening to this Sura
  4. Story of Firaun magicians who converted. 

Quran dissolves Grief

  1. Aya 2 Quran was not revealed to cause you grief or suffering. 
  2. It is the opposite

Story of Musa عليه السلام 

  1. 90+ Ayaat about journey of Musa 
  2. Aya 14 Allāh told Musa on Mount Sinai. First thing Allāh says to Musa to pray.
  3. Miracles are given to Musa عليه السلام 
  4. He is asked to goto Firaun 

Musa’s Dua for Speech & Ease in Task

  1. Aya 25-28 Dua of Musa عليه السلام for making tasks easy and improving speech. 
  2. He asked for support from Harun عليه السلام. Musa was so generous he shared the prophethood with his brother. When you give onto others it comes back to you. 

Blessings on Musa – He Was Made for Allāh 

  1. Aya 36 Reminders of blessings on Musa from his childhood. How his mother found him back in the palace after putting in the river. How he was saved after he accidentally killed someone. 
  2. Aya 40 also says Musa came to the mountain at the decreed time. 
  3. Aya 41 and I produced you for myself. (Allāh says to Musa عليه السلام 

Islam Requires Gentleness

  1. Aya 44: Musa told to be gentle with Firaun so he may fear or be grateful. We should be gentle to anyone no matter how evil. 
  2. True piety and knowledge are shown by good manners and gentleness. 

Magicians Accepting Islam

  1. Aya 72 Firaun threatens crucification and the magicians reject Firaun for the sake of Allah. 
  2. Aya whoever comes to Allāh guilty he will be punished neither live or die. Whoever comes with belief and good deeds will be given gardens below which rivers flow

Story of Samiri & The Calf

  1. Samiri was an evil religious leader from people of Musa عليه السلام. He wanted to gain power. 
  2. He was able to make a golden calf make sound and deluded people to worship the calf. 
  3. Seek refuge in Allah from misguided religious leaders who want fame and power on Dunya. 
  4. True scholar humbled himself. Goal is not the scholar, the goal is to love and please Allāh. 

Day of Judgement

  1. Aya 103 onwards 
  2. People will come on day of judgement they will swear that their entire life would be 1 day or a part of it. 
  3. Aya 108 on that day the my will follow the caller and voices will be hushed infront of ar Rahman. Faces will be humbled infront of Hayi al Qayuum
  4. How to protect 
  5. Aya 113 read Quran 
  6. Aya 114 ask for knowledge

Story of Adam and Iblis

  1. Aya 123 There shall come guidance time to time. Whoever follows the My guidance will not suffer in this world and will not go astray 
  2. Aya 124 and who does not follow My guidance shall live a miserable life and be resurrected blind. 
  3. Peace and Happiness comes only through closeness to Allāh. By following Allahs 

Comforting the Prophet ﷺ due to his Rejectors to be Patient

  1. Prophet ﷺ told to seek refuge in Allah and pray. And told to tell his family to pray as well. 
  2. Prophet ﷺ told to be extra patient even though so many people reject the truth.
The Quran and the Sunnah are the best gifts and let the believers rejoice for having them. Nothing in the Universe is better than these two gifts of Allah.
