Here you will find a summary of the quran divided into 30 parts (or 30 Juz as it is called in arabic). These are my notes based on video lectures offered by Shiekh Dr. Yasir Qadhi in Ramadan 2020

Part 19

27 An Naml (The Ant)

Makki and Madni – 93 Ayaat – Proves Quranic Revelation

  1. Starts with Ta Seen
  2. Prove Quran and Day of judgement 
  3. Blessings of knowledge
  4. Description of Believers and Non believers

Story of Musa عليه السلام 

  1. Musa speaking to Allāh near the fire and shown the miracle of Staaf and hand. But the people called it magic and disbelieved. Aya 7-14 

Story of Suleman عليه السلام 

  1. Allah gave blessings to Suleman like language of birds and animals and armies of men and Jinn. Aya 16-44 
  2. Dua of Suleman
    1. Aya 19 O Allāh grant me the capability to be thankful for favors on me and parents and to do righteous that please you Allāh. And admit me by your mercy into Your righteous  servants. 

Queen of Saba’

  1. She had wisdom. Books of Tafsir call her Bilqis. She was well known in Arabic history from Yemen. 
  2. She takes advice of council Aya 32
  3. Allah praises her leadership 
  4. Letter from Suleman عليه السلام starts with Bismillah and asks for submission to Allah. 
  5. Blessing of Knowledge
    1. Suleman preferred knowledge over wealth when queen offered her gifts. Aya 36 

Throne of Saba’ and Belief of Queen

  1. Aya 39-44
  2. Suleman عليه السلام brought her throne and proved to her his power (from Allāh) by showing how he could bring her throne. 
  3. A righteous person with miracle powers from Allāh brought the throne. 
  4. When she saw the pond inside the glass she understood that sun is the creation of Allah and submitted to Allah. Aya 44

Saleh عليه السلام and the She Camel

  1. The people carved their houses in the mountains and challenged for a miracle. Allah created a camel out of rock. Their dwellings are empty now. Aya 45-53

Lut عليه السلام 

  1. The reason why they were punished because they wanted to exile Lut and his followers because they Lut عليه السلام wanted to purify them. Aya 55-58

Majesty and Power of Allah

  1. Aya 59-65 powerful rhetorical Ayat
  2. Say الحَمْد لله and peace be upon the servants. Is Allāh better or the false gods
  3. The one who created heavens and the earth, sends rain down, who answers the prayers, creates gardens, who guides you through darkness of sea, sends breeze, is this one better or false gods. 
  4. No one knows knowledge of heavens and earth. 

Fate of Believers and Disbelievers 

  1. Aya 89-90 whoever does good deed shall receive many more. Whoever does an evil will be compensated the same. 

Religion Islam – Guidanance Quran – Allāh is all-knowing 

  1. Aya 91 all I have been commanded to do is worship the lord of this sacred town (Makkah) who made it sacred and to whom (belong) all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims 
  2. Aya 92 And to recite the Quran. And whoever is guided is only guided for himself. And whoever strays say I am of the Warners. 
  3. Aya 93 And say All praise is due to Allāh He will show you his signs and you will recognise them and your lord is not unaware of what you do. 

28 Al Qasas (Narration)

Makki – 88 Ayaat – Story of Musa عليه السلام

  1. Begins with Ta Seen Meem. 
  2. Mostly story of Musa عليه السلام. Musa عليه السلام says in aya 25 that he told his story to his father in law. 
  3. Some verses revealed during Hijra

Sacrifice leads to higher Ranks

  1. Aya 5 we desired to favour those who were oppressed in the land and to make the ones humiliated to inherit the land. 
  2. You will never get victory without sacrifice. 

Story of Musa عليه السلام 

  1. Mother of Musa left him in the water, her heart became empty. Allah says We were the one who bound fast her heart that she would be of the believers. Aya 10. 
  2. Musa عليه السلام accidentally killed the Egyptian and immediately he repented. Aya 16. 
  3. Musa عليه السلام promised to never support wrongdoers or sinners. Aya 17
  4. Allah sent him help from unexpected source. Aya 20 A man came running from the farthest part of the city and he said o Musa get out of here. 
  5. Musa عليه السلام wandered in Madyan  and helps two women.
  6. Beautiful Dua after helping the ladies. Aya 24 My Rab indeed I am for whatever good You you would send down to me a Faqir (in need)”
  7. You give others and Allah will give you back. 
  8. She walked to him shyly and modestly. Allah praised her for her modesty. She appreciated him and hinted to her father and he hired him and got them married. She appreciated his strength and reliability. Aya 25
  9. Nothing beautifies the lady than modesty and shyness. Role of women is strong in sura mother of Musa, sister future wife and adopted mother as well

Musa and Firaun

  1. Haman is an evil wazir, and Firaun asked him to build a tower to see Allāh. Allah took their army and cast them in the sea. 
  2. Their power was so great but Allāh easily drowned him and his army. 

Story of Qarun

  1. One of the richest man in the world. Just carrying the keys to his wealth would tire strong young men. Aya 76. 
  2. Qarun thought that he was blessed due to his knowledge and associated his property to himself. Others around him were impressed when he came out. 
  3. He was told by knowledgeable to thank Allāh and not cause corruption. They told him to invest in the akhira as well because those are the real treasures of Allāh. He rejected Allāh and he with his home was swallowed in the earth
  4. Understand the value of Knowledge. If you are not going to become an Aalim don’t remain a Jahil. 

Blessings of Creation – Night & Day Alternation

  1. Aya 71 onwards: Have you ever considered if Allāh has made night perpetually until day of judgement. Who would give you light. 
  2. Or consider if Allāh made day perpetual which god would give you night 
  3. It is of His mercy that he gifted you night and day so you rest and seek bounty at day and be thankful

Ayat Revealed in Hijra 

  1. Aya 85 The One who ordained the Quran to you certainly will bring you back to your home (Makkah). Say “my Lord is most knowing of who brings guidance and who is clear error”. 

Quran is a Mercy – Only Face of Allāh will Remain 

  1. You did not expect Quran it is a mercy Aya 86
  2. All will perish except the presence of Allan. To Him belongs the judgement and to Him you will be returned. Aya 88

29 Al Ankabut (Spider)

Late Makki – 69 Ayaat – Battle Between Imaan and Kufr 

  1. Trials of Dunya 
  2. Unity of Muslims
  3. Start with Alif Laam Meem 

Trials of family, society and persecution. 

  1. Aya 1-5: Did man presume that you would be left alone by saying we believe without being tested 
  2. Certainly We tested those before you to see who is truthful and who is lying
  3. Evildoers cannot outrun Allah. Whoever does good does for own benefit. Allah is free of need. 
  4. Foolishness of those who compare the punishment from other humans to the punishment of Allah. If being a Muslim brings ridicule or difficulty does not mean it is a punishment of Allah. Aya 10
  5. Suffering of this world dealt with sabr can bring eternal ease. 

Stories of Prophets

  1. Ibrahim and Nuh عليه السلام 
  2. Nuh Preached for 950 years Aya 14 
  3. Allah seized the disbelievers because of their sins. Either by sandstorms, blast, drown. Aya 40

Allies other than Allāh like house of Spider

  1. Those who take allies others than Allāh is like the house of a spider which is the weakest house. The house of spider doesn’t even protect him. Aya 41

Truth of Prophet ﷺ & Miracle of Quran

  1. You did not used to read or write any scriptures. Those who doubt may have had doubt otherwise Aya 48
  2. Quran are clear verses encompassed in hearts of people of knowledge. Aya 49
  3. They ask for miracles Aya 50
  4. Is not the Quran enough miracle which is revealed to the Prophet ﷺ that are recited to them. Aya 51. 
  5. The Quran is not the speech of men, it is an attribute of Allah and the eternal speech and miracle of Allah. 

Ayaat of Khutba – Prayer prevent Immorality and Rememberamce of Allah is Greatest

  1. Aya 45 used for Khutba regularly. Recite what is revealed and establish prayer, prayer prevents indecencies and evil and their is nothing greater than remembrance of Allah and Allah knows what you do. (Establish prayer). 
  2. This Khutba was not done by the Prophet ﷺ but no harm in doing this

Argue in Best Manner

  1. Aya 46 do not argue with people of scripture except with best manner possible except with those who have done injustice. 

Reality of Worldly Life – Ease Comes from Allāh

  1. Aya 64 life of this world is nothing but amusement and play. The life of the hereafter is the real life. 
  2. Aya 69 Whoever strives for Our cause We shall guide him to our ways. (Whoever stands up and walks towards Allāh. Allah will facilitate the path for him). Indeed Allah is with those who do good.
The Quran and the Sunnah are the best gifts and let the believers rejoice for having them. Nothing in the Universe is better than these two gifts of Allah.
