Quran Summary by Juz

Here you will find a summary of the quran divided into 30 parts (or 30 Juz as it is called in arabic). These are my notes based on video lectures offered by Shiekh Dr. Yasir Qadhi in Ramadan 2020

Juz 25

Suras 42. Ash Shura, 43 Az Zukhruf, 44 Ad Dukhan, 45 Al Jathiyah

Part 24

All Mid Makki -Start with Ha Meem

42 Ash Shura (Consultation)

Mid Makki – 53 Ayaat – Tauheed, Akhira and Rizq from Allah

  1. Reason for name is Aya 38 where Allāh has commanded Muslims to take consultation for decisions
  2. Tauheed, Akhira, Allah giving sustenance

Importance of Revelation

  1. Aya 3 Thus has He revealed to you, (O Muhammad), and to those before you – Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise
  2. Aya 7 And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Quran that you may warn the Mother of Cities (i.e., Makkah) and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze.
  3. Aya 13 He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, (O Muhammad), and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus – to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back (to Him).
  4. Aya 17 It is Allah who has sent down the Book in truth and (also) the balance (i.e., justice). And what will make you perceive? Perhaps the Hour is near.

How and Why Rizq is Given – Focus on Hereafter

  1. Aya 19. Allah is Subtle (i.e gentle) with His servants; He gives provision to whom He wills. And He is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.
  2. Aya 20 Whoever desires the harvest of the Hereafter – We increase for him in his harvest (i.e., reward). And whoever desires the harvest (i.e., benefits) of this world – We give him thereof, but there is not for him in the Hereafter any share
  3. The one who never desired hereafter or Allah why would they be rewarded in hereafter?
  4. Why Allah Chose Some People to be Wealthy
  5. Aya 27. And if Allah had extended (excessively) provision for His servants, they would have committed tyranny throughout the earth. But He sends (it) down in an amount which He wills. Indeed He is, of His servants, acquainted and Seeing
  6. Allah knows who deserves how much in wealth

Allah Gives Children to Whom He Wills

  1. Aya 49 To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He creates what He wills. He gives to whom He wills female (children), and He gives to whom He wills males.
  2. Aya 50 Or He makes them (both) males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.
  3. Allah has knowledge of which parents should be given which. Allah knows what is best for every situation. We continue to make dua but we accept Allahs Qadr

Description of Believers

  1. Aya 36 So whatever thing you have been given – it is but (for) enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely
  2. Aya 37 And those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, and when they are angry, they forgive,
  3. Aya 38 And those who have responded to their Lord and established prayer and whose affair is (determined by) consultation among themselves, and from what We have provided them, they spend,
  4. Few key points
    1. Worldly life is temporary, what Allāh has in hereafter is better
    2. When angry forgive
    3. Establish prayer
    4. Be charitable
    5. Do istikhara (ask Allāh for guidance)
    6. Do istishara (mutual consultation) – Get advice from others
  5. Aya 39 And those who, when oppressed they defend themselves.
  6. And it is allowed to return and evil with the same amount but whoever pardons and reconciles has reward due with Allāh. And do no transgress in retribution. from Aya 40.

Divine Attributes of Allah

  1. Nothing is like Allāh, Our Minds Cannot Fully Comprehend
    1. Aya 11 (He is) Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
    2. We understand what Allāh can do but we do not understand always how. This came from Christians trying to explain false divinity of Isa.
    3. There is nothing in the universe like Allāh. Anything you imagine and you think you understand (especially about how) It will never be fully correct or complete. Allah says that he is seeing and hearing (we don’t understand how) but it is not similar to hearing and seeing of any creation.
  2. No one can see Allah directly
    1. Aya 51 And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a veil or that He sends a messenger (i.e., angel) to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.
    2. Prophet ﷺ also says in a hadith that we cannot see Allāh in dunya

Calamities from Sins of Humanity

  1. Aya 30 And whatever strikes you of disaster – it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much
  2. Evil happens due to our sins and when you are patient then Allah forgives those sins. Allah is in charge, we are slaves

Quran is Guidance

  1. Aya 52 And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command (i.e., the Quran). You did not know what is the Book or (what is) faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, (O Muhammad), you guide to a straight path

43 Az Zukhruf (Golden Decorations)

Makki – 89 Ayaat – Prove Quran, Refute Critics of Messenger

  1. Name of surah Aya 35
  2. Theme is to prove Quranic message and refute the criticism against message and messenger
  3. Aya 3 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Quran that you might understand

Existence of Something does not Prove Allāh loves it

  1. Pagans blamed Allah for their wrong worship because they said Allāh has willed. Allah said this is falsehood and they have no knowledge of what they are talking about. Aya 20
  2. Allah has created us but he doesn’t love every act or ritual we do. We have been given desires and there is always a halal way to fulfil them

Du’a For Journey

  1. Aya 13-14 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, “Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have (otherwise) subdued it.14. And indeed we, to our Lord, will (surely) return.”

Allah Decides Who Gets What

  1. Aya 32. Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees (of rank) that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
  2. Allah has allocated livelihood and careers. Some have higher ranks over others. They have to help each other. The Rahma of Allah is much better. Even the billionaire needs others for food, medical, other needs. But the mercy of Allah is infinitely better than the possessions of the entire world.

Dunya has no Value

  1. Aya 33 And if it were not that the people would become one community (of disbelievers), We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful – for their houses – ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount 34. And for their houses – doors and couches (of silver) upon which to recline 35. And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.
  2. Allah could have given good things in the world only to disbelievers but this could have caused most mankind to be disbelievers. The world means nothing to Allāh and he could have given the disbelievers everything without care.
  3. Worldly possessions can distract the believers from worshipping Allah
  4. Even though Dunya has no value in the sight of Allah, The mercy of Allah is that He still allows the believers to have some of the pleasures of worldly possessions
  5. In the eyes of Allah remembering Him has real value.

  3. It is a night of Baraka. So prayers and Dua will be magnified exponentially. The reward of a thousand months
    1. Some wrong people say it is 15 Sha’ban but that is wrong. There is no evidence for that view.

  1. Aya 14 Say, (O Muhammad), to those who have believed that they (should) forgive those who expect not the days of Allah (i.e., of His retribution) so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn.
  2. Allah will recompense the disbelievers. Whoever does good deeds it’s for their own benefit. Whoever sins does to their own loss

Justice Requires a Day of Judgement

  1. Aya 21 Or do those who commit evils think We will make them like those who have believed and done righteous deeds – (make them) equal in their life and their death? Evil is that which they judge (i.e., assume).
  2. Aya 22 Allah created the heavens and the earth with Haq (Ultimate truth and wisdom) so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned. And they will not be wronged.
  3. Moral argument based on justice. Good and bad are not the same and Allāh will not allow piety to go unrewarded neither will He allow injustice to be left unpunished.

Some Take Own Desire As God

  1. Aya 23 Have you seen he who has taken as his god his (own) desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded?

Nations Kneeling on Day of Judgement

Praise Belongs to Allah

  1. Aya 36. Then, to Allah belongs (all) praise – Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the worlds. Aya 37. And to Him belongs (all) supremacy within the heavens and the earth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise
The Quran and the Sunnah are the best gifts and let the believers rejoice for having them. Nothing in the Universe is better than these two gifts of Allah.
