67 Al Mulk (The Sovereignty)
Mid Makki – 30 Ayaat – Power of Allah
- Also known as sura Thabarak
- According to Hadith this sura act as a Protection from punishment of grave, an intersession on the Day of Judgment for forgiveness.
Purpose of Creation – Test
- Aya 2 (He) who created death and life to test you (as to) which of you is best in deed – and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving
The Perfection in Creation
- Look as far as the eye can see look as far and look again and your eyes will come back tired but you will not find any flaws in the creation
Punishment of Rejectors
- The punishment for the people who reject. The angels of hell will ask did not somebody come to you and they will say messengers did come but we rejected them if only we had used our intelligence ans believed
- The real intelligence is guidance and truth to Allah.
Fear Allah in Private
- Aya 12 Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and great reward.
Disbelievers on The final Day
- Aya 27 But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, “This is that for which you used to call.
- Allah can remove the water you drink and who can bring it for you then
Trust in Allah
- Aya 29 Say, “He is the Most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will (come to) know who it is that is in clear error.”
68 Al Qalam (The Pen)
Early Makki – 52 Ayaat – Honour the Prophet ﷺ
- The first creation is the pen. Then told to write and it asked what and was told to write everything which happens until day of judgement
- Praise of our Prophet ﷺ
- Temporary nature of dunya
Outstanding Character of Prophet ﷺ
- Aya 4. And indeed, you are of a outstanding moral character
Fate of Stingy Owners of Garden
- Story of those who owned the luxurious garden and because of their stinginess their wealth was destroyed Aya 17-32.
- They conspired to not give charity to any poor person and due to their stinginess their wealth was destroyed
- Giving charity increases our wealth. Allah multiplies charity and No one goes poor by charity
Prostration on Day of Judgement
- Those who can’t prostrate on that day because they refused to prostrate in this world
69 Al Haqqah (The Reality)
Makki – 52 Ayaat – Day of Judgement
- The inevitable reality of death and day of judgement. Haqqah is reality that day of judgement will come
People receiving the book in right and left hand.
- The one who gets in right hand will shout out: Come read my record out of happiness
- The fate of these people Aya 19-37.
- People rejected the Quran and sura answers this. The Qur’an, divine revelation from the Raabb Al Aalameen.
Prophet ﷺ Speaks the Truth
- No prophet can ever lie against Allāh
- Aya 44 and if Muhammad ﷺ has made up about Us some (false) sayings
- Aya 45 We would have seized him by the right hand
- Aya 45 The we would have cut from him the aorta
- Aya 46 and there is no one of you who could prevent (Us) from him
- The threat is to the quraish that he ﷺ is a true prophet
70 Al Ma’arij (The ways you Come close to Allah – The Ascending Stairways)
Makki – 44 Ayaat – Day of Judgement
- Aya 19. Indeed, mankind was created restless and impatient
- When touched by adversity he becomes moaning and when good happens to him he becomes ungenerous and stingy
- Someone who is not close to Allāh will always feel frustrated, unthankful and complaining in dunya. Whereas someone who loves Allāh and has piety will be thankful and not worry about people and calamities will not harm as much.
The Righteous Ones
- Aya 22-27
- Observers of prayers
- Constant in prayers
- Give wealth to needy
- Believe in day of judgement
- Fear punishment of Allah
- Guard their private’s
- Attentive to trusts and promises
- Upright in testimonies
- Carefully maintain/safeguard the prayer
71 Nuh (Noah)
Makki – 28 Ayaat – Story of Nuh عليه السلام
- Story of Nuh عليه السلام
- A message for our prophet ﷺ to be patient and to warn the of the quraish what would happen to them if they reject
The Benefits of Isthigfar
- Aya 10-12 And said, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. Aya 11 He will send (rain from) the sky upon you in (continuing) showers. Aya 12 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.
- Names of idols again mentioned of Nuh’s nation. Quraish told they idol worshipper were there before and they were also wrong like they are wrong. Aya 23
72 Al Jinn (The Jinn)
Mid Late Makki – 28 Ayaat – Jinn
- Even Jinn Recognize the Beauty of Qur’an
- Aya 1. Say, (O Muhammad), “It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, ‘Indeed, we have heard an amazing Quran (i.e., recitation).
Jinn Both Good and Evil
- Aya 11 And among us are the righteous, and among us are (others) not so; we were (of) divided ways
- The Muslim jinn are our brothers in Faith
Knowledge of Prophet ﷺ not All Unseen
- The prophet ﷺ doesn’t have the knowledge of unseen except if Allah revealed it
- No human can have the knowledge of the unseen. Only Allah knows Ilm ul Ghayb
73 Al Muzzammil (The Wrapped One)
Makki – 20 Ayaat – Dhikr & Night Prayer
- Very early makkan sura – 3rd revelation
- Prophet ﷺ is told to prepare for the challenges of future and spiritual preparation
Night Prayer
- Aya 2 Arise (to pray) the night, except for a little
- Aya 4 And recite the Quran with slow good recitation (tartila)
- Aya 5 indeed We will cast upon you a heavy word
- Allah praises the people who pray at night Aya 20. This Ayat is a very good example of the mercy of Allah
Always Do Dhikr of Allah
- Aya 8. And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (complete and utter) devotion
74 Al Muddaththir (The Cloaked One)
Makki – 56 Ayaat – Second Revelation
- 2nd revelation when Prophet ﷺ was wrapped up in blanket by our mother Khadija رضي الله عنها
- Few weeks passed after Iqra, prophet ﷺ again sees Gibreel AS, he ﷺ rushed to Khadija رضي الله عنها

- Abu jahl said to him it’s not acceptable you cannot maintain silence. While he was thinking in his house the ayaat were being revealed about him in Quran. Allah describe what’s in his mind.
People of Jahannum Converse with Angels

75 Al Qiyamah (The Resurrection)
Makki – 40 Ayaat – Power of Allah
- Powerful sura showing the power of Allah
- People criticised for thinking that they will not be resurrected and Allāh can recreate up to the finger tips
- People testifying against themselves
Prophet ﷺ assured He will Remember
- Allah promise the prophet ﷺ that he will memorize the Qur’an and he should not hurry.
- When Jibraeel would first come before he could finish an Aya the Prophet ﷺ tried repeating and memorising. Allah assured him that you will not forget.
Shining Faces & Man has Purpose
- Faces will be shining bright by seeing Allah Aya 22-23
- Does man think that he will be left without a purpose? Aya 36
- Guidance is more important than the creation. Allah does not create and leave man without guidance or purpose.
76 Al Insan (The Man)
Makki – 31 Ayaat – Dhikr & Night Prayer
- Also called Sura Dahr (first Aya)
- Prophet ﷺ read this in Friday fajr Salah in 2nd rakah. In Frist rakah he ﷺ recited sura Sajda.
- Aya 1 Wasn’t it recently that you were an unknown entity (not a thing even mentioned)
- We were the ones who created you from a drop of mixed fluid. We made you hearing and seeing. We are the ones who show you the path. You can either be thankful or ungrateful Aya 2-3
Allah Describe the Righteous
- They feed the poor (even though they need it). Aya 8
- Aya 9 They say we don’t want you to thank us. We are feeding you because this is what Allāh wants us to do
- If we are pious, honest, trust worthy, kind and feed the poor Muslims will leave an excellent impression of the true religion on everyone
Day of Judgement
- This sura is a reminder that disbelievers focus on the world and leave the hereafter. They enjoy the pleasures of dunya but we must remember the akhira
77 Al Mursalat (The Emissaries)
Makki – 50 Ayaat – Punishment Deniers
- That which is sent out.
- 10 times Aya occur” Woe to those who deny the day of judgement.”
- Allah gives examples of how precious nations are destroyed
- The punishment is mentioned for those who denied
